Ryan’s Story
On the 20th August, 1990 Ryan Boles was born at the Calvary Hospital in Cairns, Queensland. He was the first of four children to Garth & Michelle Boles. At birth he was only 5lb & not able to feed. In a bid to help him gain weight he was tube fed. Concerned about Ryan, Michelle asked doctors to examine him. They said that Ryan possibly had a hearing problem but it wouldn’t impact on his speech however this was just the beginning of his problems.
During Ryan’s early life the family spent time in Alice Springs NT with Michelle’s parents. Ryan began school at Mackay’s Victoria Park Special Education Unit for children with special needs. At 6 years of age Ryan then attended Mackay District Special School. In his final year of school Ryan was elected School Captain and he enjoyed this position just as much as he enjoyed school. Michelle never dreamed of her son achieving School Captain and was immensely proud of him. At the end of his final year Ryan’s class had a graduation night which was enjoyed by all who attended.
When school finally finished he no longer had the support and routine that it offered and there was no transition for Ryan which meant that he developed severe behavioural problems. Throughout the year of 2010 Ryan’s behavioural problems continued. During the recovery period and the much needed extra support enlisted by Michelle, she decided that Ryan would not spend the rest of his life serving no purpose which was when Bolzy’s Go4 Services blossomed.

Ryan’s Family
Michelle cares for Ryan on a full time basis while Garth casually helps out with the day to day duties. Ryan’s two brothers Jake and Morgan and his sister Cody also help out. Jake is currently training to be a Diesel Mechanic while Morgan has recently completed a four year apprenticeship as a motor mechanic. Cody is studying to be a Psychologist at the Central Queensland University in Mackay.
All family members, especially mothers aspire to see their children succeed in life, which is Michelle’s motivation for her son Ryan. Ryan loves to laugh and have a beer with his dad and brothers. He also wants to drive a car but primarily he wants to work. This wouldn’t be unusual except Ryan has quite a few severe disabilities.
Ryan’s family intend on him having a good quality life and be seen in the community as a successful person enjoying life like his siblings. It was many months before Michelle finally came up with the idea of what Ryan could do to have this good life. She thought about all of the mundane jobs that she does many of which Ryan is quite capable of doing. He is able to do the washing, grocery shopping, delivering mail, taking wheelie bins out, fetching lunch orders, washing tea towels and many more. The seed to Ryan’s new working life was planted.
The development of Ryan’s business would not have been so simple without the help of the local people. Ryan’s business name is registered, has public liability insurance and an ABN. Without the initial support from Life Stream Mackay and their employees Ryan’s business would have been harder to progress
We look forward to providing Mackay’s community and businesses with great service & Ryan with a new and fulfilling life for years to come.
